Leoda Azzle Knight 82 departed this life on Saturday, January 24, 2015 while recovering in the hospital from a broken hip that occurred the week before. She was born on February 9, 1932 in Ashland City, Tennessee to Dudley Collier and Azzle Hyde. She accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized at her father's church. She married Ollie Staten Sr. on October 3, 1949, the couple moved to Rockford in 1952 where they raised seven children, Ollie Jr., Patricia, Beverly, Cynthia, Leon, Greg, and Bobby. The two divorced on December 30, 1975. Leoda later married Willie Knight on February 14, 1976, they later divorced. Leoda was a water meter reader, for the City of Rockford, for many years. After retirement, she became a transporter for Rockford Memorial Hospital. She leaves to cherish many loving memories, her children: Beverly Hill of Rockford, Cynthia (Arthur) Owens, Champaign, IL, Leon Staten, Gregory Staten, Robert Staten, all of Rockford, IL. Her daughter in law, Tracy Depriest Staten, 23 Grand-Children, 41 great-grand-Children; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and many dear friends. She is predeceased by her parents, 1 son, Ollie Jr., 1 daughter, Patricia Tennin, and 1 grandson, Nathaniel Perry, 1 Son in law, Lonnie Hill, and 1 great-grand-daughter, Vern'ee Staten.
