Janie Lee Howard was born on February 20, 1947 in Sallis, Mississippi. She was the 6th child of eleven children born to the union of Mr. Henry and Mrs. Rosie Howard. Janie received her education from Ma Adam High School in Sallis, Mississippi. Janie relocated to Waterloo, Iowa when she left Mississippi to later relocating to Rockford, IL to be closer to family. She was employed as an assembler at Barber Coleman where she retired in 2009. Member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she served diligently in the Senior and Mass Choirs, Sunday School Teacher, Member of the Willing Workers, Nurse and Mother Boards until she became ill. Janie departed this life on June 22, 2016 at Rockford Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Her precious memories will be forever cherished by her loving children, Ursula Jeanette Howard, Timothy Howard, her siblings Rozene Emmitt Collins, Mayrene Anderson, Earlie Howard and James Howard all of Rockford. Ruthelma Robert Bruce, Luvelma the late Damon Frazier, Floyed Irene Howard, all of Waterloo, Iowa. Essie the late Rayfield Parham of Sallis, Mississippi. Seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one daughter in law, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Predeceased by parents, son, Chris Howard, brothers, Frank and Ray Howard. Janie is now at peace, resting in her faith in the love of the Lord, Jesus Christ.
