Darnelle Mookie Jones, 26, passed away at Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL on Friday April 8, 2016 at 7:30pm after a sudden illness. "Mookie" was born in Chicago, IL June 8, 1989 to Tomeko Jones. He lived in Chicago until being transferred to Walter Lawson Children's home in Loves Park, IL at the age of 8. There he met his "belovedmommy", Belinda. Mookie had a smile and a laugh that would brighten any room and make your day a better one. He enjoyed listening to music, watching movies and hanging out with his room mates. He was in the Day Training Program at Walter Lawson. He enjoyed going on outings but especially loved spending holidays and weekends with his family. He looked forward to being spoiled by his granny and going fishing with his Papa. His one on one time with his beloved mom was the highlight. When his health allowed, he enjoyed going to Church and listening to the choir and Pastor Bennett. Mookie was an angel down here on earth and a blessing to all who crossed paths with him. He wil be greatly missed. Darnelle is survived by his birth mother Tomeko (Alica) Jones; his beloved mother; Belinda, his special TT: Liz, adoptive family and many many friends. He is preceded in death by his Adoptive grandparents Gloria and Edward DuBose.

The Broken Chain
We didnt know that morning that God was going to call your name
In life we loved you dearly
In death we do the same
It broke our hearts to lose you, you dont go alone;
for part of us went with you, the day God called you home
You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide
and though we cannot see you, you are always at our side
Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same
but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.
-Ron Tranmer

The family of Darnelle Mookie wishes to express our love and sincere thanks to Walter Lawson Children's Home and Staff; Kindred Hospital and staff; Alden Lakeland and Staff and Weiss Hospital and Staff. A very special Thanks to Liz Chappell the Greatest TT in the world.- The family
