Bertha Lee Duarte was born May 20th, 1952 in Osceola Arkansa. She departed this earthly life December 07, 2016 at her residence Park Place of Belvedere of natural causes. Bertha was the daughter of Annie Mae Simmons and Johnny Simmons. She married Carlos Duarte in Elgin 1994.
Bertha gave her life to Christ at an early age in Osceola, Arkansas. She enjoyed being around her family, spending time with her grandkids, shopping, bingo, and she loved her puppy "Bella".
She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Barbara Cooks, Sherri Dorsett, and Shanitha (Tree) Glover; two sons, Joseph (Connie) Simmons, and James (Godiva) Simmons;

Shirley (Curtis) Lockett of Rockford, Johnny Simons of Rockford, Mary (Bruce) Whiteside of Elgin, Darron (Nita) Simmons of Wisconsin, Carolina Simmons of Rockford and Patricia (Shawn) Weatherby of Ohio; 14 grandchildren, Chanel, Star, Iesha, T.J., Jo-Ann, Dennis, Damien, Janiyah, Tony, Jr, Mac-Sean, Angelic, Sabrina, and Jeremiah; 12 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. She also had a special bond with the Davis boys. She is preceded in death by both her parents, husband, Carlos Duarte; daughter, Cynthia (Pat) Simmons; sisters, Ann Marie Simmons, Bobbie Jean Akins, and Doris Brown; aunt, Pauline Ballard; and brother in law, Willie Akins Sr.
