Violet Mae Harris 78 of Rockford was born in Haynes Arkansas February 12, 1936. She was called home to be with Jesus March 28 2014 after a long illness.
She was the youngest girl of five children, she lived in Rockford for over 50 years. She worked as a assembler at Admiral's and retired as a head cook at Locustwood nursing home.
She was a brave hardworking single mother of eight children one of which is deceased. She was a sweet loving mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking family gatherings and was a master spades player.
Violet was a devoted member of church of the living God Temple 319 at 115 Regan Street located in Rockford Illinois for over 30 years.
Violet is survived by her five daughters, Linda (Charles) Tatum , Demetria Harris, Angela Ferguson, April Dismuke, Teneshia "Toby" (Jerome) Sullivan, two sons, William Harris Jr, and Fernard Harris. Twenty five grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren. Special niece Josephine Howard and loving cousin Martha Avery.
She was predeceased by her parents, Will Jordan and Josephine HIll and brother Joe Sauls.
