Ynobie Zackery was born on December 6, 1936 in Chidester Arkansas to her late parents Lenon and Pearlie Box. She was the 7th child out of 14. She departed this earthly life peacefully at home on October 29, 2023.
She accepted Christ at an early age in Chidester and was baptized at Good Hope AME Church, a stones throw up the road from the home where she was raised. As a young lady, she relocated to Rockford, Illinois with her older sisters, Ossie Mae and Ruby Lee with the hope of finding better opportunities for her and her infant daughter Clara Box.
While in Rockford, she added to her family with another daughter Tonja Box (deceased). She also met and later married John Zackery on November 30, 1957 and to this union, 2 children were born a daughter and son, Yvonne and Curtis Zackery.
She was employed by Atwood Vacuum, Rockford Molded Product and Lee's Cleaner, where she most enjoyed working and interacting with the variety of customers she encountered. She always saw the best in people and always had a kind word to share with everyone. She had a healthy zest for learning and was always reading or doing her "find a word" puzzle books.
She was an active long-time member of Allen Chapel A.M.E Church, where she served on many committees and attended regularly until illness affected her attendence. She loved God and her Church family and receiving Communion from her Pastor.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband John Zackery, daughters Clara Box, Yvonne Zackery and son Curtis Zackery. Grandchildren- Sabrina, Troy, Clarina Box and Jerrell Zackery, great grand-children Malcolm Box, Rayven Gray, Jasiah Zackery. Brothers - Claude (Mary) Box, Roosevelt Box, Chester Box and Sisters- Etsy Fricks and Evelyn Box. Bonus son Otha Maxie and God-son Hiriam Allen and Special friend Rebecca Allen and a host of family and friends.
She was preceeded in death by her parents Lenon and Pearlie Box, four brothers: Willie Lee, Lenonree, Carl, John L and 4 sisters: Ruby Lee, Ossie Mae, Clara(Tootsie) and Bennie C, special friend/cousin Dorothy (Sue) Slay.
