Winfred Harvey Obituary

Winfred Leon Harvey Sr.

Sunrise: August 8, 1952 — Sunset: October 20, 2025

Titusville, Florida — Rockford, Illinois

Winfred Leon Harvey Sr. was born on August 8, 1952, in Titusville, Florida — one of fourteen children born to the late James and Mary Lee Williams Harvey.

He received his education in the Brevard County Public School System, attending both Gibson High School and Titusville High School. After completing his education, Winfred worked as a mechanic at Goodyear Service and Tire Company.

In 1972, he united in marriage with Danna L. McNeil, and through this union, four children were born. In 1973, he relocated to Rockford, Illinois, to pursue a better life for his family. In Rockford, he worked as a mechanic for Jelco Bus Company and later as a machine operator.

Winfred leaves to cherish his loving memory: three daughters — Winifred Harvey, Yolanda (Tyrone) Cooper, Jamie Marie Harvey, and one son, Winfred L. Harvey Jr.; ten grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

He is also survived by his sisters — Evelyn Jackson, Caretha (Oliver) Collins, Belinda C. (Louis) Brown, and Dale Y. Williams; brothers — J. Frederick Harvey, Austin J. (Pauline) Harvey, Alexander Harvey, and Andre (Diedre) Harvey; his special aunt, Helen Hayes; uncle, Jose Williams; and special nephew, Ricky Haynes. He also leaves behind a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends; special friends, Ariannah Spence, Jerry, Joey, and Jeff.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, LaShonda Lyn Harvey; great-grandson, Amias Lamar Patton; three sisters — Mattie L. Yarbrough, Dorothy E. Haynes, and Irenia Walker-Greene, one brother, Richard L. Harvey; and special friend, Deonna Spence.

Those who knew Winfred will remember him as a hardworking, friendly, and hilariously witty man who could always make you laugh. He loved his children, his sisters and brothers, and cherished every moment with family. We will forever remember the good times and cherish the precious memories of his life. We thank God for blessing us with the gift of Winfred’s love and laughter.
