William Oscar Martin departed this earthly life on February 7, 2019 after a short illness. He was born in Morris Chapel, Tennessee on February 23, 1933, to Doskey Martin and Cora Mae Johnson.
William Attended Savanna Public Schools. He was joined in Holy Matrimony with Nannie Beatrice Carter for 38 years to this union, in which they had 2 children.
William was employed with Metal Crafters for over 29 years as a machine operator until retirement in 1992. He was a long time member of Gomez Chapel Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was considered the pillar of the family. His hobbies included, collecting records and listening to old songs, repairing washers and dryers, playing pool, watching his favorite t.v. shows (Wrestling and Price is Right), and playing the piano and organ. William leaves to cherish many memories, his wife; Nannie B. Carter of Tiptonville, Tenn.; Daughters; Dorothy M. Hinton of Rkfd, IL; Debbie J. Carter of Tiptonville Tenn.; four grandchildren, Delonda and Libra Martin both of Rkfd, IL; Derrick and Kevin Carter both of Tiptonville, Tenn.; eight Great-Grandchildren, 2 Great-great grandchildren; Special cousins, Elaine Rushing and Brenda Martin both of Rockford, IL; Special recognition to his caregivers, Patty Ellis and Priscilla Beasley of Rkfd, IL, and a host of Cousins, family, and friends.
He was predeceased by both parents; One daughter Patricia Martin; 2 Special long time friends; Albert Davis and Michael Spraggins both of Rkfd, IL
