Virginia Ann Washington, 66, of Rockford, passed away on August 25 th , 2023,
after a long illness. She was born July 13 th , 1957, in Rockford, IL the daughter of
Lee H Pearson and Annie Lee Pearson ’Jackson.
Virginia was joined in Holy Matrimony to Johnnie Payne Washington “Sunny” for
25 years. To this union one child was born Nakeya Nicole Poole.
Virginia attended and graduated from Rockford East High School class of 1976 at
which time she attended Rock Valley College and Alberto School of Cosmetology.
She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Deliverance Crusaders Center,
Washington Park Community Church, Pentecostal Center COGIC and later
returning to Liberty Baptist Church. She assisted the youth department and served
on the Pastors Aide committee.
Virginia was employed at Warner Lambert Manufacturing Company for 32 years
as a machine operator, later became self-employed as the owner and operator of
Mrs. V’s Daycare where she was truly loved by the children as well as a Paparazzi
Consultant.
Virginia was a multitalented women engaged in event planning, an honorary
member of Diamond cut riders “ DCR " and member of Church Women United
(Rockford Chapter), she loved to bake, make jokes, laugh and be the life of the
party,
Virginia is survived by her daughter, Nakeya Nicole Poole; her grandchildren
DeMonte Washington and Johnnie Poole; her siblings; (10) sisters,
Jean (Billy) Ferguson, Venester (Thurston) Sherod, Cynthia (Dexter) Porchia,
Annette (Michael) Reynolds, Denise Pearson, Tonda (Wayne) Bailey, Jeanne
Talley, Debbie Hubbard, Karen (Willie) Randall, Stefanie (Michael) Cain; (6)
brothers, Ronnie (Jutta) Pearson, Reginald Harris ’Pearson, Ivory (Patsy) Jackson,
Steve Jackson, Lamont Hubbard, Jason (Tracey) Hamilton; Godmother; Estella
Benford; Godsisters; Linda Tripp, Lesie Benford, Willa Falls and Carolyn Benford;
Godchildren; Nyoka Lynn Drayton, Mary Woodard, Dominique Henderson and
Nicholas Pryor; Special friends; Sharon Malone, Milette Sowell, Vivian Ferguson
and Caretha Collins; nieces and nephews she helped raise; Lee “Toby” Pitts and
Tiffany Pearson; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was predeceased by her father, mother, stepfather, Late husband Johnnie Payne
Washing, (2) brothers; Lee Otis Pearson and James Jackson; (1) sister; Brenda
Golden.
