Vincent Weems

Vincent Duray Weems, affectionally known as “Butchy”, of Rockford, departed this earthly life September 24, 2022. He was born January 14, 1962 in Joliet, Illinois, the son of Maxine Weems-Rhyne and Jessie Weems. “Butchy” grew up in Freeport, Illinois before relocating to Rockford, Illinois over 40 years ago. He attended Auburn High School and was employed at Rockford Toolcraft until the time of his death. Vincent married Gladys Wills on February 14, 2020.  Vincent dedicated his life to Christ at a young age and was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church where he was proud to serve on the Usher Board.

Vincent leaves to cherish many loving memories, his wife, Gladys; two sons, Tavaris Dontay Taylor and Marshannon (Nicole) Wallace; two daughters, Kyuana Brown and Anaya Weems; 18 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild; 4 stepchildren, Kenneth Brown II, Kenyatta Brown, Kendra Brown, and Amari Wills; parents, Maxine Rhyne and Jessie (Gwen) Weems; one sister, Nina Kelly; one aunt, Brenda Brumfield and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Vincent was predeceased by his daughter, LaToya Franklin; maternal grandparents, Robert and Oshia Belle Salter, and EarnelBarrett; and paternal grandparents, Clyde and Carrie Weems.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 724 Harrison Avenue. Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements completed by Collins & Stone Funeral Home, 128 So. Fifth St.
