Valencia Loomis-Mwangi

Valencia Janell Mwangi departed this earthly life on Sunday, May 30, 2021. She was born November 17th, 1968 in Freeport, IL to Frances Valencia (Nesbitt) Norman and Dale Loomis.  Valencia received her early education in Freeport, IL, and graduated from Rockford West High School in 1986 where she was a cheerleader, a member of the ROTC and a member of the Rockford Phantom Regiment Color Guard.  Valencia was very active in school, participated in theater and was on the yearbook staff. She also participated in the Miss Teen Illinois Pageant and won Miss Congeniality. She later attended the University of Phoenix and majored in business administration.  

Valencia leaves to cherish her memory, her loving Husband  Edward N. Mwangi (Lake in the Hills, IL), Mother, Frances Valencia Norman; six brothers:Dale Anthony Loomis, Eric Loomis, Brad Loomis, Michael Edrick Norman, Alexander Michael Norman, Kaleb Anthony Norman; one sister Monica Elise Norman; three aunts: Amelda Ellis (Chicago, IL), Christine Golson (Birmingham, AL) and Patricia Norman (Freeport, IL); and a host of loving and caring nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

Valencia was the CEO of Swift Shuttle Transportation Service for more than 10 years.  She transported clients throughout the Northern Illinois-Southern Wisconsin area catering to weddings, private parties and special occasions.  Valencia found her niche in wedding planning. She would promote her designs, floral arrangements, and other decorations in wedding expos throughout the Chicago land region. Valencia was a self-starter and when she focused on an activity or event, she would do it with savvy and style. She had excellent interpersonal skills and her smile and personality was an invitation to talk about most anything.

Valencia was preceded in death by her Father, Dale Loomis; Step-Father, Merle E. Norman;Grandparents; Merle and Earnestine Norman; and beautiful and loving daughter, Braxton Valencia Loomis.
