Tervern Lee Obituary

Tervern Jomarcus “Bud” Lee, Sr., 42, passed away suddenly on January 11, 2026, at UW Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, Illinois. He was born on September 23, 1983, in Rockford, Illinois, the son of Katherine J. Lee and Joseph D. Standfield.

Tervern was a faithful member of Second Christian Church in Rockford. He earned his GED from Roosevelt High School and later completed a program through YouthBuild. Known for his big heart, Tervern would help anyone in a time of need. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing, grilling, and enjoying nature. Spending time with his family meant everything to him, and he especially cherished moments with his children. He enjoyed listening to music and was a devoted Chicago Bears fan.

Tervern was employed as a DORS personal assistant, a role he took great pride in, particularly as it allowed him to care for his mother. He married Tenisha Collins on December 31, 2015. Tervern will be remembered for his contagious smile, kindness, generosity, and the love he gave freely to those around him. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Tervern was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Standfield; grandparents, Henry and Marie Lee; Peter Standfield; Jackie Wilson; aunts and uncles, Ethel Graham, Tammy Lee, Linda and Lawrence Coleman, and Wanda and Willie Porchia; cousins, Vanessa Farrar, Brandy, Antwon Lee,  Lee-Williams, Mario Lee, Keona Foote, Jaleel Hatter, Mayionna Lee-Miller, Keyaira Williams, Malachi Lee and Antwon Lee; his godmother, Jurlean Horton; and godbrother, Martin Jefferson.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Tenisha Lee of Rockford, Illinois; his mother, Katherine Lee of Rockford, Illinois; his children, sons Tervern Lee, Jr., Demoni Gonzalez, and Kyng Hughes, and daughters Kaylynn Lee and Marie Sanders, all of Rockford, Illinois; his mother-in-law, Jacqueline Collins of Rockford, Illinois; his father-in-law, Christopher (Shawntay) Ellis of Rockford, Illinois; his siblings, Donte Lee, Terrell Lee, Janessa (Quanny) Neal, Eric Martin, and Angela Holland, all of Rockford, Illinois, and Mark Standfield and Dammina Standfield of San Francisco, California; his aunt, Ossie (Curry) Standfield of Rockford, Illinois; His uncle Willie Standfield, his godfather, L.T. Graham; his godmother, Sharon Beaver of Rockford, Illinois; and his godparents, Rodney and Carolyn Bradford-Nixon of Decatur, Illinois.

He is also survived by God son Keith Johnson Jr., good friends Quanny Neal of Rockford, Illinois, Marcel Stallworth of Atlanta, Georgia, and Clifford Horton of Rockford, Illinois, along with a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
