The Life And Legacy Of Sonya White-Acosta.....


Sonya K. White-Acosta, affectionately known as “Tonette,” departed this earthly life on August 20, 2025, at the age of 46. She was born on July 5, 1979, in Rockford, Illinois, to the late John Watts and Innette Zackery.


Sonya earned her GED and was employed at Mr. J's on Auburn Street and Willyums Dari Fair on Kilburn Avenue. She had a heart for serving others and took great pride in her work. Her genuine kindness, warm personality, and radiant smile made her a joy to be around. Sonya truly loved being around people, and she was always ready to lend a helping hand.


She was especially passionate about spending time with her family and friends, and she found joy in cooking and creating meals filled with love. Sonya’s vibrant personality and deep compassion left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.


On her journey through life, Sonya was blessed with 14 years of marriage to her loving husband, Pablo Acosta. Together, they raised four beautiful daughters: Aunique White, Araya Acosta, Marie Acosta, and Lillian Acosta.


Sonya leaves to cherish many beautiful and loving memories husband; Pablo, daughter; Aunique, Marie, Araya and Lillian; Mother; Innette (Samuel) Zackery, Sister; Stephanie (Keith) Stephens, Special Sister; Helen Anderson, Jenee (Robin) Fluker Stephens, God-Sister; Miracle Carmichael, Brothers; Jerry Fluker, John Watts III; A host of Aunts; (special Aunt- Marsha Smith) Uncles, Nieces; (Special Neice- Raeunique), Nephews, Cousins; (Special Cousin- Ebony Dixon), and a special friend Sasha Anderson who she loved like a sister.


Sonya was preceded in death by her father; John Watts, Maternal Grandparents; Joe "Mickey" and Lillie White, Paternal Grandparents; John Wesley Watts, Sr. and Johnnie Mae Rhoden, Sister, Special Brothers; Samuel, Joel, Sedric, Shaquille (shaq) Zackery, Aunts; Sonya, Brenda, Debbie White, Barbara Tripplett, Uncles; Albert Stevens, Arthur Tripplett, Frank Coleman.


Your laughter had a way of lighting up any room and your kindness touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing you. Sonya Will be greatly missed an the precious memories will forever be cherished.
