Samantha Lucas

Samantha Renee Lucas was born on February 23, 1979, to her loving parents, Sharon Ruth Marcum and James Richard. The youngest of four children, Samantha was truly a precious gem in her family.

Samantha lived a life rooted in love, laughter, and selfless service to others. She had a giving heart and was known for her strength, compassion, and unwavering willingness to help anyone in need. Those who encountered her often felt God’s grace and mercy through her presence. She was a light to all who knew her—our sunshine—bringing warmth, joy, and even her signature sass that made her uniquely unforgettable.

Samantha was the proud mother of her two biological children, Bryana Franklin and Vernaz Franklin, whom she shared with her lifetime partner, Verna Franklin. She also lovingly helped raise Ariana Nichols, Kiara Franklin, and Marina Vargas, embracing them as her own and pouring into their lives with the same care and devotion.

Family meant everything to Samantha. She shared close bonds with her siblings and extended family, including her oldest sister Geraldine (Alice) Lucas, whose children La’Quita and ShaQuita Green, as well as her brother James Lucas’s daughter Flora, grew up alongside Samantha’s children as part of one loving family.

Throughout her life, Samantha was known as a strong woman who continually gave of herself—even when she had little—because supporting and uplifting others was simply who she was.

Samantha gained her heavenly wings on January 23, 2026, at the age of 46. Though she is no longer with us in body, her love, kindness, and radiant spirit will forever live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
