Ruth Ann Nolan 71, of Rockford, IL peacefully passed away
November 17, 2022 at home with family and friends. Ruth
was born August 7, 1951 in Rockford, IL to Robert Speed
Nolan and Doris Taylor Nolan.
Ruth graduated with her bachelor's degree from Mundelein
College. She then went on to receive her master's degree in
Social Work from Loyola University Chicago.
Ruth was a dedicated State of Illinois employee with Public
Aide and the Department of Children and Family Services for
40+ years. Her dedication to children went beyond her
professional career. She was a volunteer educational
surrogate for CASA, taught Sunday school, and was a
catechism teacher. Ruth was charming, a lover of music, Korean dramas, and also enjoyed interior design and
art.
Ruth leaves to cherish her memories, her mother, Doris T.
Nolan; brother Robert S. (Vivienne) Nolan; daughter Leah
Lambert; grandchildren Zachary Edwards, Cody Edwards, Ira
Edwards Jr., Lysander Edwards; nieces Fiona Nolan, Aoife
Nolan, Ciara Nolan; cousins Bonnie Jefferson, Roland (Karen)
Jenneford, Elise (Roger) Bracy, Charlotte D. Blackwell
Yolanda Golden, Kris Revels; children-in-love Mario Holmes,
Vincent Lambert, Tiana Owens-Cook, Marista Cook-Harris,
Madison Owens, Aiden Harris, Olivia Harris; longtime friend
Eneree Sockwell; and a host of special loved ones.
Ruth was preceded in death by Robert Speed Nolan (father),
Ira “Bruce”Edwards (son), Connor Nolan (nephew), Barbara Bacon
and other beloved aunts and uncles, Helen Revels and other
beloved cousins, and Ardis Walker-Cook ("best friend").
Ruth Nolan’s Homegoing Celebration of Life begins at 12 noon at Collins and Stone Funeral Home (128 S 5th, Rockford, IL 61104). The celebration will continue at Rue Marche (620 Market St, Rockford, IL 61107). The family invites you to wear something festive.
