Rosemary Friar, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025, at the age of 77. She was born on March 27, 1948, in Durant, Mississippi, to the late George Patterson and Hallie Brown Patterson.
Rosemary’s journey in life was marked by quiet strength, unwavering resilience, and a deep devotion to her family. After relocating to Rockford, Illinois, she pursued her education and proudly graduated from West High School a milestone she cherished. On March 25, 1983 she was united in holy matrimony to the late Collies Friar, beginning a new chapter filled with love and partnership.
She loved reading, knitting, watching football, spending time with her grandchildren, and absolutely loved eating tacos. Her laughter, kindness, and thoughtful nature brought joy to those around her, and she created lasting memories with everyone she encountered.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter, Shannon Patterson; sons, Anthony Patterson, Cedric Friar (Karen Lopez), Jamal Cooper, Collies Cooper (Stephanie), Timothy Davis (Beverly), Devin Friar (Kim); daughters, Alisha Williams (James), and Vinell Friar. She is also survived by her sisters, Melissa Patterson and Yolanda Sanders; her brother, Vince Patterson; special cousins; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and friends.
Rosemary’s life was a testament to love, perseverance, and grace. Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched and the memories she leaves behind.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her loving husband; Collies Friar, parents; George and Hallie Patterson, Sister; Alice Patterson, Brothers; Otlo, Overtice, Thaddeus, and George Patterson, Son; Buropa Friar.
Memorial Service will be held on 2 PM Saturday July 19, 2025
