Roland was born into our lives March 04, 1961. He was the 4th child (of eight) from the union of Gloria Woolfolk-Byars & James Byars, whom both preceded him in death, in Chicago, IL. Roland was also pro- ceeded in death by his brothers Christopher, Gerald, Lenair and step- son Phillip.
He received his formal education from Farragut H.S. Roland was baptized in Jesus’ name at an early age at Bethlehem Healing Temple under the leadership of Bishop Charles E. Poole. He received the pre- cious gift of the Holy Ghost in his youth.
Roland was always willing to share, if he had it, you had it. He was a man of many trades, always willing to try anything.
Roland met the woman of his life, and after some years of dating married Clarisse Thornton-Byars on June 8, 2013. He spent the remainder of his life dedicated to Clarisse in Rockford, IL. Roland had a special bond with his step-daughter, Partenia and a very special bond with his grandson DayDay (Dayvair), whom he spoke fondly of often. Capone, truly was his best friend, Roland’s dog was never far from him.
On Thursday August 06, 2020 Roland departed this life peacefully in his sleep, after a battle with heart complications. Roland leaves to cherish his memory: his wife Clarisse, step daughter’s; Partenia, Monique and Monica. Mother-in-law Evelyn Kendricks.
