Remembrance of Melvin Douglas Barmore
Melvin Douglas Barmore, 81, transitioned from this world into eternal rest, on March 8, 2025. Melvin was born on October 23, 1943, in Winston Salem, North Carolina to and Reverend Howard Capus Barmore Jr. and Gaitha Barmore. He attended Rockford schools, he attended West High School. He served in the U.S.
Army in the 1960’s he fought in the Vietnam War, after serving four years in the U.S. Army he returned home to Rockford, worked at Gunite for a short period of time and later migrated to Detroit, MI where he attended Wayne University in Detroit. He worked many jobs including the Carpenters Union until he retired and an owner of Barmore and Sons Construction Company where he rehabbed home and done carpentry work. He married Antionette Guyton in 1991, they stayed several years in Detroit before relocating to Huntsville, Alabama. He enjoyed traveling, shooting pool and building things and being with his family.
Melvin is predeceased by both parents three brothers, Phillip Barmore, Bruce Barmore and Samuel Barmore: four sisters, Eleanor Marks, Rev. Priscilla “Rose” Adkins, Irene Lott, Odessie Barmore and one son Anthony Barmore.
He leaves to cherish his life and memories a wife of over thirty years Antionette Barmore Huntsville, Alabama and two sisters Nancy (Harry)Hagger, Mary (Stan) Barmore-Reese and two brothers William (Evelyn) Barmore and Christopher (Maryann) Barmore all of Rockford. He leaves several sons Ronald (Kansas City), Keith, Troy (Tonya), Howard and Kevin Bailey-Murray, Jonathan (Roslyn), Lawerence, Tyrone, Sheldon, Melvin Jr., Matthew, Damien, Marquis etc.. Three daughters Rhonda, Yacoma and Czede’sia. Sixty-five grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, thirteen great-great-grandchildren a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends.
