Maurice Simmons Jr.

Maurice D. Simmons Jr., of Rockford Illinois Departed this earthly life October 22, 2020. He was born August 15, 1987 in Rockford, Illinois the son of Regina R. Poe and Maurice D. Simmons Sr. MoeMoe attend East high school an later received his GED as well as earning his associates and bachelors degree. He became the Vice President of the “Wright Way Foundation” in 2019, where he mentored at risk youth. MoeMoe was also employed at American Aluminum in Roscoe, Illinois as a Laborer. MoeMoe loved playing basketball and spending quality time with his children.

MoeMoe leaves to cherish many loving memories, his father, Maurice D. Simmons Sr.; stepmother, Lucrechia Daye; one daughter, Nyari Simmons; four sons, Maurice D. Simmons lll, Ny’ Verrion Simmons, Maurtayvion Simmons, Ny’ Maurzheon Simmons; one bonus child, Layla Johnson; six brothers, DeAndre Poe, Shawnquez Simmons, Quamayne Simmons, Mauriceo Simmons, Mauricus Simmons, Desauni Simmons; four sisters, Lashanda Daniels, Jayah Simmons, Maurnajah Simmons, Deshanti Simmons; paternal grandmother, Mattie Sowell; maternal grandmother, Algurtia Poe; two special friends, Tiauna Woods, Angela Luton; a host of nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Regina R. Poe, his paternal grandfather, Henderson Sowell Jr., maternal grandfather, Robert Poe Sr., one aunt Patricia Smith, two uncles, Henderson Sowell lll and Billy Joe Simmons Sr., and his best friend/brother Cortez C. Holliman.
