Marlon Dixon Obituary

Marlon Clay Dixon was born January 25th,1962 in Forte Wain Wright, Alaska to Willie Clay Dixon Jr and Irma Lee Nelson-Dixon.

Marlon attended Waynesville Senior High. While in high school, Marlon participated in football, track, and field. Marlon matured and earned several awards in track and field as well in football. Marlon went on to receive a scholarship for football, track, and field. Marlon graduated from Waynesville Senior High in 1980. After high school, Marlon attended Forte Valley State studying Communications.

Marlon was employed with Parker Hannderson for 20 years as an Engineer; and then with The Rockford Park District as a Golf Course Maintenance until his retirement in October of 2017.

Marlon was joined in holy matrimony with LaVeta Cudjo-Dixon for 31 years, with a lifetime relationship of 39 years. To this union 2 children were born. 

Marlon enjoyed watching and listening to the Chicago Bears play every game. Marlon found joy in grilling and showing it off to everyone. Marlon took great pride in his family life and becoming a grandfather. Marlon enjoyed spending his time with his granddaughter, he loved her endlessly. Marlon talked about his wife, children, granddaughter any chance he got. Marlon was a funny, easy-going, and friendly guy to be around. Marlon always taught his kids the importance of hard work and dedication. 

Marlon Clay Dixon departed this life May 6th, 2021. He was preceded in death by his mother, maternal and paternal grandparents. 

Marlon leaves to cherish his memories: Laveta Cudjo-Dixon, Marlon Clay Dixon II, Ciara Dixon, his father Willie Clay Dixon Jr, and grandchild Amarah; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
