Marjorie Partridge Price was born June 1, 1934 in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Clitron and Inez Partridge. Following her graduation from Central High School in Omaha, she continued her education at the University of Omaha, Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri where she earned a Bachelor Degree, and Northern Illinois University where she received her Master Degree in Education, with a Specialization in Reading and Illinois
Administrative Certification. She also attended several administrative workshops and national seminars. During her college career, Marjorie met and married her soul mate, Forest Walter Price, on December 11, 1955, in Omaha Nebraska. To this union two children were born; a son, Forest II, and daughter, Karen Price Grant.
Marjorie spent 32 years working in Rockford School District 205. Her positions included Elementary Teacher, Instructional Consultant for the Board of Education, Head Teacher and Principal for McIntosh and Walker Schools.
Outside of her school positions, she made time to be an active member of several community organizations that were dear to her heart. They are YWCA Health Education Committee - former member; Taus, Inc. – Board Member; CASA – Family Consultation; MELD, and the Discovery Center. Professionally, she was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma – Honorary Women’s Educational Society, Phi Delta Kappa – Honorary Educational Fraternity, and Zeta
Marjorie’s heart for education melded with her heart for children, and she spent most of her life teaching with the thought that sound educational beginnings would equip her students with a good foundation to build successful futures. She not only taught in this manner, but she led by example. She, and the love of her life, the late Forest Price, were members of the Pilgrim Baptist Church, and from beginning to end, remained faithful, active and contributing
members. They gave of their time, talents and treasures to the church and to God. They both volunteered in many ways, including teaching and guiding throughout the years. They will
both be dearly missed.
Marjorie leaves to cherish many loving memories, her son, Forest Walter Price, II; sister, Sharon Bradford of Bellflower, CA; brother, Robert Partridge of Omaha, NE; and a host of other relatives and friends. Marjorie was predeceased by her parents, Clitron and Inez Station Partridge; husband, Forest Walter Price; daughter, Karen Price Grant; brother, Clitron Partridge, Jr.; and sister, Mae Partridge Melton.
