Lucinda Thompson

Lucinda Jean Thompson, age 87, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2025, at Aldeen Debes Nursing Home. She was born on November 27, 1938, in Montgomery, Alabama, to the late Willie Richard Thompson and Evelyn Burch Thompson-Lewis.

Lucinda received her education through the Montgomery, Alabama school system and later relocated to Rockford, Illinois, where she was employed as a machine operator. She was also a proud member of the United Negro Women’s League, where she found joy in community service and sisterhood.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Mary Ousley, Evelyn; brothers James Thompson, Willie Richard Thompson, and her grandparents, Marcellus and Clara Burch.  

Lucinda leaves to cherish her memory: Billy Lewis and David Lewis of Milwaukee; Michael Lewis of Rockford; Mary Thompson of Milwaukee; Catherine Thompson of Los Angeles; her sister, Maryann of Birmingham; nieces Debbie Thompson of Milwaukee and Joyce of Cleveland; Dana Bridges of Los Angeles; and a host of loving nephews. She is also lovingly remembered by her goddaughters Dianne of Los Angeles and Coretta Thompson of Chicago.  Special friends, Lillie Bell King, Betty Guyton, and Patricia Johnson. 

Entombment will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
