Lonny Jones

Lonny Ray Jones, age 66, peacefully departed this life on September 18, 2025. He was born on September 8, 1959, in Rockford, Illinois, to Margaret and Jesse “Joe” Jones.

Lonny loved his family deeply and had a passion for music, and was known as a “jack of all trades,” he enjoyed using his many skills to help others. He attended East High School and Rock Valley College and found joy in giving back through his volunteer work at Saint Elizabeth Community Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his only sister, Frances “Sis” Waller; his brothers, Ivory L. Jones, David L. Jones, Johnny E. Jones, Michael E. Jones, and Ralph R. Jones; and his granddaughter, Aliyah Beasley.

Left to cherish his legacy of love are his brothers, Jimmy C. Jones and Kenneth D. Jones; his children, Jarimne Jones, Lonnie Jones Jr., Martavius Jones, Raj Davis, and Lakeisha Roberts; Montrell Beasley; and his wonderful grandchildren: Jameire Freeman, Martezion Freeman, Jaden Dandridge, Jermante Freeman, Legend Lonnie Jones, Tay Sherman, Xavia Roberts, Zaria Roberts, Alexis Beasley, Ariona Beasley, Montrell Beasley, and Armon Beasley. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and many dear friends.

Lonny is also remembered with love by the mothers of his children—Ernestine Beasley, Patricia Davis, and Desatra Freeman—and special friend, Jan.

Lonnie Ray Jones will be greatly missed, but his spirit of love, music, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
