Lloyd Johnson Sr., 85, transitioned from his earthly life on Monday, February 17, 2025, at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, Illinois. "Bae Bae" was born on March 18th, 1939, in Rosston, Arkansas, the son of Robert Johnson Sr. and Winnie Johnson. He attended schools in Rosston, Arkansas.
Lloyd moved to Rockford, Illinois in the early 1960's with the love of his life, his wife, Helen Jean (Robinson) Johnson. They both shared the same date of birth: March 18th. She was a woman of resilience, an angel amongst earth and a blessing to all that she encountered. Lloyd and Helen went onto have six (6) amazing children, three (3) daughters and (3) sons, Lloyd was a strong-minded and hard-working husband and father. He was employed for decades and retired with Rockford Blacktop, being a part of the first group of African-American men to join the company in the City of Rockford.
In his prominent years, he enjoyed: horseback riding, collecting and restoring automobiles, playing basketball, spending quality time with his siblings, immediate family, friends and raising his children with his wife, in their beautiful home on the west side of Rockford, Illinois, in which she eventually solely preserved. Together they welcomed all of their grandchildren there throughout the years, making unforgettable memories, enjoying them run and play throughout the home and big backyard.
He leaves to cherish many loving memories with his family and is survived by his children: Daisy (Lamar) Powell, Lloyd (Verna) Johnson Jr., Lorraine (Melvin) Smith, Sharon (Billy) Sanders, James (Barbara) Johnson, Carl Johnson and Victoria Napolitano. Two sisters: Johnnie Mae Jones and Dorothy Woods. Two brothers: Samuel Johnson and John Johnson. Eighteen (18) grandchildren, Seventeen (17) great-grandchildren, along with nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, wife: Helen Johnson, brother: Robert Johnson Jr., sisters: Grace Butler, Mary Magdalene Loudermilk and nephew: Gregory Johnson.
