Larry C. Maclin

Larry “Bird/Legend” Maclin (38) passed away unexpectedly on Sunday July 9, 2023, in Janesville, Wisconsin. Larry was born June 7, 1985 in Rockford, Illinois to Donald Harrington and Cassandra Brown (Maclin). He worked in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin as an adult care provider; a job he really enjoyed doing and came to him naturally because he had such a caring soul. 

Larry was a great man. He was kind, caring, and giving. He always put others before himself in his own special way. He enjoyed many things in life. You could say he was a “busy body”. Amongst those many things, he was strongly passionate about basketball, music, dancing, poetry, video games, and drawing. Larry always knew how to make everyone who came in contact with him smile and laugh. His ability to do so came so naturally because he had such a good spirit, a genuine personality, and a great soul. Larry loved his family more than life itself. This year, he experienced one of the proudest moments of his life. He was able to see his one and only daughter graduate from high school. Larry loved and adored his daughter with all his heart. He also had a soft spot in his heart for his nieces and nephews. To them, he was, and will always be known as “Unky”. He shared unique and everlasting bonds with his siblings; each bond being special in its own individual way. Larry considered his closest cousins and friends as the brothers he never had. 

He is predeceased by his paternal grandmother, Rosie Buchanan and maternal grandparents, George and Ruby Maclin. 

He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Khyla Maclin; his father and stepmother, Donald (Jennel) Harrington; his mother and stepfather, Cassandra (Mike) Brown; three sisters: Kayla Harrington, Mercedes (Jaimie) Sorvaag, and Shyane Mensing; paternal grandfather, Donald (Cathy) Willingham; his nieces: Layliana, Khylia, Adyson, Heaven, and Nevaeh; his nephews: Jaydan and Tristan; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.  

A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 1720 Morgan Street in Rockford, Illinois at Macedonia Church from 9:00AM until 11:00AM. The funeral service will begin immediately following the visitation at 11:00AM. There will be a repass after the funeral service at 2514 Kilburn Avenue in Rockford, Illinois.
