John Henry Wojtkiewicz , age 65, died peacefully on April 19th, 2020, in Rockford, Illinois.
John is survived by his son, Joshua J. Wojtkiewicz (Bryanna), of Round Lake Beach (Illinois); his daughter, Amber A. Viirre (Dan), of Kenosha (WI); and his son Mark A. Wojtkiewicz (Kristine), of Spring Grove (IL); his seven grandchildren, Daniella Viirre, Ava Viirre, Nicholas Viirre (Kenosha, WI) and Tieler Wojtkiewicz, Olivia Wojtkiewicz, Ella Wojtkiewicz, and Mila Wojtkiewicz (Spring Grove, IL); and his brother Frank Wojtkiewicz (Aveline) of Antioch (IL). He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. Coble, of Woodstock (IL), his parents, Henry and Sabina Wojtkiewicz, of Antioch (IL); his sister, Christine Miskanin, of Grayslake (IL); and his brother, Joseph Wojtkiewicz, of California.
John was born on July 11, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois, to parents Henry and Sabina. He graduated from Antioch Community High School in Illinois. He accepted a position at International Harvester and then Baxter International where he retired.
John was a great man and a loving father. He loved to make people laugh and help others in their time of need. He enjoyed rooting for the Chicago Bears, boating on the Chain O’ Lakes with his family, and he loved to keep traditions alive by cooking. His family and friends will always remember him as a humble, genuine, loving, and caring person.
A celebration of life for John will be held at a later date with family and friends. The family would like to thank the healthcare workers at OSF Saint Anthony (Rockford) for acting as the family during his final hour.
