John Randall Weatherall, affectionately known as Randy to family and friends, gained his heavenly wings on June 26, 2022.
Randy was born on July 23, 1953 in Rockford, Illinois to Alberta Weatherall (Matthews) and John Alan Skelton, later adopted by Joel Weatherall. He was educated in the Rockford Public School System and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1971, where he played football. He continued family tradition by enlisting in the United States military by joining the US Marine Corp at an early age.
After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the United States Marines Corp. he went on to further his education by earning many vocational certificates and an associate degree from Rock Valley College. He began a career at the United States Postal Service in Rockford, Illinois where he was one of the first black HVAC Engineers and an African American Employment Rights Activist. Later he became an independent contractor in construction and housing renovation.
Randy loved his family and was a friend and confidant to many. He loved to lend a helping hand and dispense his brand of wisdom among those he knew. He was the happiest when he was able to spend time with love ones, watching Chicago P.D. and completing renovation projects. He will be remembered for his jokes, entertaining stories, unfailing work ethic and benevolent smile.
John was preceded in death by his parents, sister Cynthia Overton and brother Stephen Weatherall. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his children Christopher Weatherall (Jennifer), Tiffany Weatherall (Abid Saleem), Jason Weatherall (Canice), Tiya Kirkwood (Brian), Brandon Christian (Trista), Briana Weatherall and Isaac Brown.
