Gwandoya Hamisi Nillingondo Simon departed on August 26, 2024. He was born on July 15, 1976, in Rockford, IL, the son of Sharon Simon and Donald Tennial.
At the age of 17, Gwan was employed at the Metropolitan Downtown, where he fell in love with cooking. He was a member of Gomez A.M.E. Church. Gwan graduated from East High School and was also employed by UPS, Speedway Race Track, and Mondelez.
Gwan leaves to cherish many loving memories: bonus daughter, Shamaya Jarrett, three daughters, Terria Simon, Jalaizah Simon, and Autumn Simon; one son, Terrance Simon; two grandchildren; sisters, Sonja Simon and Tamiko Simon; brothers, Tyrone (Tiki) Anderson, Donnie Fort, and Pierre Black; four aunts, Daphanie (Muff) Simon, Stephanie (Fred) Whittington, Constance Sturdivant, and Martine (Brice) Melton of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; two uncles, Lenny (Sheila) Day and Leonard (Louise) Simon; three nephews, three nieces, and a host of cousins and other relatives.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Lee D. and Elizabeth Simon, and his uncle, Terrance Simon.
