On June 1, 1959 in Memphis, Tennessee, James Cale and Geraldine Martin were blessed with a very vigilant and talented son Gregory Trent Martin. Gregory attended High Crest High school in Memphis, Tennessee where he obtained a major in general education in 1976. He later furthered his education in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and bricklaying. He was a jack of all trades. Gregory was employed from 1982-1994 in Boonesfield, Mississippi as a forklift driver and machine operator. 1997–1998 he was employed at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis Tennessee as a CNA. 2000 to 2018 he was employed by White Construction in Memphis, Tennessee as a Masonry. Gregory relocated to Rockford, Illinois in 2000 to reunite with his first love, childhood best friend and soulmate Laurie Weddington, and became her fiancé. Gregory attended Old Salem Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Jack D Carpenter, where he played the bass guitar. After he relocated, he joined Greater New Jerusalem Church Of God In Christ under the leadership of Pastor Robert L Goldsmith, where he played the bass and lead guitar. He had a strong compassion for music, church, kids and the elderly. Gregory leaves to cherish his memory fiancé, Laurie, Weddington of Rockford, Illinois, one son, Gregory Martin, Jr. and one daughter, Danielle Martin, both of Memphis, Tennessee . One brother Louis Martin of Memphis, Tennessee, three sisters, Patsy Boyland, Betty Smith, and 10 Tantileer (Johnny) Moore all of Memphis, Tennessee. Stepmom: Jesse Martin, two Stepson‘s: Ray Weddington, and Richard Marks, both of Rockford, Illinois, two special nephews, Marcella Martin and Douglas Smith of Atlanta, Georgia two special nieces Brandy Boyland and Chrystal Goodwin and a host of aunts, cousins and lifelong friends. Gregory was preceded in death by his mother Geraldine Martin, his father James Cale, his brother-in-law‘s, Walter Boyland and Douglas Smith and stepson Antonio Weddington.
