Gary Hurd

Gary M. Hurd, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away on January 30, 2025. He was born on December 3, 1957, in Rockford, Illinois, to Robert Hurd and Kathryn (Blades) Reeves.

Gary received his GED and worked as a general laborer. He had a passion for building, tearing things apart, and reconstructing them. One of his greatest joys was traveling with his wife, Tina. Together, they traveled to all 50 states, creating many cherished memories along the way. Gary also had a love for collecting coins and star note bills and enjoyed estate sale shopping.

Gary was a loving, funny, caring, compassionate, and intelligent man who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was predeceased by his mother, Kathryn Reeves, father, Robert Hurd, and brothers Tracy and Bobby Hurd.

He is survived by his wife, Tina Hurd of Rockford, Illinois, stepchildren Desiray (David) Jones of Rockford, Tracy (Melinda) Hurd of Augusta, GA, and Crystal (Jeremy) Jordan of Rockford. He is also survived by his sisters, Shawn (Ken) Vader of Mount Vernon, IL, Michelle (Pat) Hansen of Durand, IL, and Robyn Lowe of Mount Vernon, IL. Gary was a proud grandfather to Kyler, A’Lani, A’Miracle, Ari’Anna, A’King, Ray’anna, Kason, Kyson, Pierre, Cincere, Julian, Savvana, Wayne H. (Savannah), Cody H., Justin H., Lucaas H., Lynnsey H., and Wyatt H., as well as many nieces and nephews.

At this time, no service will be held, but a celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
