Elbert Franklin Rainer was born on November 6, 1946, in Boliver, Tennessee. He attended Hickory Valley, Tennessee Schools. Elbert attended and accepted Christ at a young age at New Hope Baptist Church in Tennessee. When he relocated to Rockford, Il he attended Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church and Progressive Missionary Baptist Church. He left this world September 19, 2024. Elbert was fondly known as Boo, ButterCup, and Cup. Elbert was predeceased by his parents, one sister, one brother, and three nephews.
Throughout Elbert’s life he was gifted with his hands, a fearless roofer, a tree cutting, happy go lucky person, who would love to watch his westerns and raced his Red, White, and Blue striped Rebel race car.
Those fortunate to call Elbert a friend, always knew he had a blues song to sing, a jovial laugh that will leave a mark on us that will never fade. His hobbies and interests defined who he was. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and hunting.
His memory will be cherished by his formerwife Dolly Rainer Ford, and his current partner Ann Staff.
He’s survived by his brother Eugene (Juanita) Rainer.
His three daughters, Katrina and grandchildren Delrashawn and Jaden
Necole and grandchildren Dennis, Brooke, Brennan, and Edith
Jasmine and grandchildren Duewan, Theresa, Mehki, Antwon, Antonn, Jacyeion.
We find comfort in knowing that Daddy’s memories will live on especially when we hear the gospel song “Toiling” by the Soul Stirrers. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.
