Dorothy Cooper

Dorothy Jean Cooper departed this life on September 12, 2025. She was born on September 06, 1938, in Rockford, Illinois, the daughter of James Potter and Georgia Patterson.

Dorothy was a lifelong resident of Rockford, Illinois. She graduated from high school and later married Daniel Cooper. Together they had two children: Rosemary Marie Hill and Daniel Eugene Cooper. Dorothy was a caring mother, aunt, cousin, and friend whose love touched many lives.

She is survived by her sister, Lura Graham of Atlanta, Georgia; her son, Daniel Eugene Cooper of Chicago, Illinois; and her granddaughters, Tracey (David) Brewington of Royse City, Texas, and Felicia (Marco) Hill-Chavez of Rockford, Illinois; special niece, Jonita Rodgers. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and extended family members who will cherish her memory.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, James and Georgia Potter; her siblings, Pearline Torrance and John Pryor; and her beloved daughter, Rosemary Marie Hill.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her OSF Hospice nurse, Lisa, and the staff at Forest City Nursing Home, who provided compassionate care during her final days.
