Cora Tillmon

Cora Tillmon departed this earthly life December 31, 2020.  She was born January 28, 1937 in Durant Mississippi, the daughter of Will and Sallie Bailey. Cora graduated from Durant High School, and eventually moved to Rockford Illinois.  She married Robert Tillmon and to this union three children were born,daughters Cathy and Robin, and son Reggie. 

Cora was employed at Amerock for several years, St. Anne’s Retirement Home, Barbour School Cafeteria, and was employed at Swedish American Hospital from 1974 to 1999.  She was a supervisor in the dietary department for many years.  Cora retired from Swedish American Hospital in 1999. She was a proud charter member of the United Faith Baptist Church, and for decades actively served as a member of the Usher Board.  Cora enjoyedspending time with her family, traveling, cooking, and baking.  She was well known for her incredible cakes. She baked cakes for all occasions for many people in the Rockford area. She especially enjoyed attending and cheering on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their educational and athletic pursuits. Cora had a very kind heart and would help anyone inneed.  She encouraged many teens, that she met through her work at Swedish American Hospital, in their educational pursuits. 

Cora leaves to cherish many loving memories, her daughter Cathy (Trinidad) Rangel, son Reggie (Danita) Tillmon, granddaughters Courtney (James) Presley, Logan Tillmon all of Rockford.  Grandsons Bo Tillmon of Boston, MA, Ross Bradley and Ryan Bradley or Cedar Hill, TX., a total of 8 great-grandchildren, one brother-in-law, two sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her daughter Robin Tillmon Bradley, her parents, and her 10 siblings.

A private family homegoing celebration will be held at 11:00 am, Friday January 8, 2021 at Collins & Stone Funeral Home 128 S. Fifth Street, Rockford, IL.  Public visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 10:45 am at the funeral home. Burial in Cedar Bluff Cemetery.
