Carol Landry Obituary

Carol Landry affectionately known as “Muff & Lil Bit” gained her wings on September 24, 2025. Carol was born December 26, 1951, in Chicago, IL to the late Getrude and Emile (Sr.) Blackwell. Carol Graduated from Edwin G. Cooley High School and later graduated from Olive-Harvey College with a degree in Child Education. Carol worked as a Nurse Assistant for 20 years with Comfort Keeper’s and was dearly loved by every client. Carol became one of Jehovah Witnesses in 1991 and attended the Kingdom Hall.

Carol early years of life was providing, caring, nurturing, and loving her family. Carol would give you the shirt off her back and would provide/open her doors to anyone in need. Although she born in Chicago, she later moved to New Orleans where spent her teenage years. New Orleans is also where she met her better half Joseph Landry Sr. They fell in love, left New Orleans, and came back to Chicago to start a family. She was shining star that would light up any room. She loved to dance and sing her greatest hits (but she would call it her jams). Carol was the epitome of a strong, compassionate, generous, supportive, and loving warmhearted family Orientated woman. Most of all, Carol was a fighter (literally) all the way to the very end.

Carol was married 41 years to the love of her life, the late Joseph Landry Sr. They both loved and shared 5 beautiful Children, 2 girls and 3 boys: Andre Landry, Joseph Landry Jr (Nicole Robinson), Lakeisha Smith (Larry Smith Jr.), Syreeta Landry-Ballard (Jesse Ballard), Jermaine Landry and beloved step - son, Terrence Landry. Carol leave behind many precious memories with her 13 brother and sisters: Brothers - Emile Blackwell Jr., Terrell Blackwell, Kevin Blackwell, Larry Blackwell, Darrell Blackwell, Glenn Blackwell, Gregory Blackwell; Sister- Jean-Hayes-Franklin (Barney Franklin); Sister-in-law Thelma Armstrong and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
