Calvin Hawkins Sr.

Calvin Hawkins, Sr. of Rockford entered into eternity April 13, 2018.  Calvin was born on January 26, 1927 in Chicago, Il to Lee and Hattie (Thompson) Hawkins.  Calvin lived in Chicago til adulthood, then he enlisted in the Army to serve in WWII in Germany.  He returned to Chicago and worked until he moved to Rockford. 

Calvin courted Barbara (Adams) then married her on June 02, 1967.  Calvin attended Rock Valley college while working at Sunstrand to further his career as a lead machinist.  Calvin also worked at OIC as a teacher training adults to obtain a trade in welding along with other factory skills.  He then retired after 39 years at Sunstrand company.  Calvin also ventured into private business (Old Town Cab Company).  He was also a avid bowler in leagues through out his life, he loved playing pool and working on cars.  Calvin joined Faith Center and accepted Christ with his wife Barbara.  Calvin was a fun loving person who always has a joke of two to tell that would put a smile on your face.  

Calvin leaves to cherish, a loving and devotes wife, Barbara Hawkins of 51 years; four children, Renee (Moses Jr.) Corbin: grand children, Nakia, Moses III, Mia, Gregory, Cordaro, Endya (Corbin's); Cedrick C. (Jeanne) Hawkins: gran child, Calvin Hawkins; Velma Hawkins Lloyd: two grandchildren, Kiara and Tatianna Smith; Titus Hawkins: grand children, Jashawn, Nadia, Payton and 14 great grand kids.  

Calvin was predeceased by his mother, Hattie; father, (Lee); sister, Leola; and nephew, Donald.
