Obituary
We celebrate the life and legacy of our beloved Betty Mae Billberry. Betty was born on August 11th, 1947 in Limestone County, Alabama to the late Rosie Mae Cattage and J. C. Anderson.
Betty moved to Rockford, IL. at the age of 18 where she joined Gomez Chapel A.M.E Church. She sang in the choir and served faithfully for many years before moving her membership to True Vine Missionary Baptist Church. Later in life, Betty was united in holy matrimony to Earnest E. Billberry. Earnest preceded her death on June 17th 2020.
Betty was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend. She was a social butterfly with compassion for anyone she encountered. Betty will be remembered for her great southern cooking, her laughter and the unconditional love she had for her family.
Her memory will be kept alive by her children Terrell Anderson (Huntsville, AL.) and Marvin Anderson (Rockford, IL). Four stepchildren; Deardrew (John) Lucas, James Robinson, Kirk Billberry and Marcus (Amy) Billberry. Three sisters; Clara Mangruem, Addie Mangruem and Sharrion Mangruem. Five brothers; Henry (Mary) Mangruem, Donnie (Louise) Mangruem, Robert Mangruem, David Mangruem and Carl (Sandra) Mangruem. Three grandchildren; Brianna Anderson, Jazlyn Edwards and Amiya Womack. Two great-grandchildren. Three godchildren; Chelsea Jones Mathews, Collies “Pep” Cooper Jr. and Tyler Mims. Special goddaughter, Stephanie Cooper. Special nephew Collies Cooper Sr. Thank you to Betty’s Golden Girls (Greta Foster, Joanne Thomas, Gerry Moss, Georgia Winters, the late Almatha Crayton & the late Emma Gulley), for being exceptional caregivers and friends!
Betty is predeceased by her parents, father; Rev. Tommie Mangruem, stepdaughter; Latynna Billberry, four brothers; Alfred Mangruem, John Lee Mangruem, Bobby J. Mangruemand Calvin Mangruem Sr.
