Barbara Oehlke

Barbara Emilie Oehlke, beloved teacher and cherished matriarch, passed away on February 20, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on March 23, 1943, in Baraboo, Wisconsin, she dedicated her life to education and nurturing those around her. She made a lasting impact as a teacher in the Rockford Public Schools for close to 40 years. Her passion for teaching was matched only by her love for her family, especially her grandchildren.

Barbara will be lovingly remembered by her children, Megan, Khanh, Quinn, Jorge, Gustavo, and Gina, as well as her daughter-in-law Randi Oehlke, and daughter-in-law Kha Nguyen and grandchildren Finn, Reed, Shanta, Parker, Kien, Kegan, Kelsey, Ada Natalia, Rebecca, Gustavo, Jorgito, and Jose Andreas.

Barbara Emilie Oehlke's spirit will continue to inspire and influence those who had the privilege of knowing her. As we celebrate her remarkable life, her family and friends look forward to honoring her memory in upcoming services on June 7th at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Rockford, where stories and laughter will echo as a testament to the love she spread throughout her life.

Barbara was preceded in death by: Milo Willard, Ruth Kelsey, Carlton Kelsey, Roger Oehlke.
