"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith."
— 2 Timothy 4:7

With heavy hearts, we celebrate the life and legacy of Antonia Deshay Mahomes, affectionately known as “Dee-Dee,” who departed this life on July 18, 2025, surrounded by love and in eternal peace.

Born on February 6, 1971, in Chicago, Illinois, to Willie and Patricia Mahomes Kidd, Antonia was a beacon of strength, kindness, and unwavering faith. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at New Morning Star Baptist Church. Later, she became a dedicated member of Love and Unity Ministries, under the leadership of Pastor Ron Winston.

Antonia pursued her education in Chicago and proudly earned her General Education Diploma in Minnesota in 1997. A natural nurturer, she devoted her career to childcare, touching the lives of countless families in the West Garfield community. In 2016, she relocated to Carpentersville, Illinois, where she lovingly raised her children and grandchildren, her greatest joys.

A true prayer warrior, Antonia was known for her God-fearing heart, generous spirit, and willingness to give to others—even when she had little to spare. She leaves behind a powerful legacy of love, deep faith, resilience, and compassion.

She is survived by her loving mother, Patricia “Patsy” Kidd; her cherished children: Keith (Mysti) Singleton, Keishona Mahomes, and Zavian Reynolds; her beloved grandchildren: Zhy’aire Green, Kyndell Singleton, and Keenan Singleton; her sister Antronette Mahomes; brothers Tyrone Jr., Willie Jr., and John Earl; nieces Tyshiana, Natonia, Jamarianephews Cortez and Angelo, great-niece Natalia; adopted daughters Valincia Washington and Zaniyla Reed; and her best friend Yolanda Ward. She will be deeply missed by a host of loving relatives, special sisters Frankie Davis, Andrea Melton, and Ora Boyd, as well as many friends and the communities she so dearly touched.

Though her voice has been silenced, her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.
