Vernell L. Roundtree

Vernell L Roundtree was born August 01, 1957 to Johnnie Lee Jones and the late Author Jones in Tupelo Mississippi; relocated to Detroit Michigan and then Chicago, Il.   She attended Woodson South and North elementary an went on to Forrestville High School.  

Vernell was born into a spiritual Family and the see was planted in her at an early age.  She attended Miricle Revival Holiness Church where she was baptized by the Late Elder Robert D. Jones.  

In 1972 she met Ezra L. Roundtree and by the winter of 1973 they became a union and together bring forth five beautiful children.  The first born Ezra Jr., who now meets his mother in heaven passed away prematurely in 1974.  

Vernell was a great mother, she loved her babies! She took pride in her kids and was a hard working young lady who did what she had to to provide for them.

Vernell was employed at Art's Restaurant over the years where she met numerous of people who loved and enjoyed her company.  She was a vibrant woman, full of life, love, and laughter.  She had a smile that could brighten up the room and hair that every girl wanted.  Vernell loved taking her kids to Lake Shore Drive and having picnics by the beach.  She loved cashew nuts, and always kept butter pecan ice cream in the freezer.  Vernell's mom was everything to her, she loved her dearly and had plenty of stories about her brothers and sisters.  

In 1999 she mer Ronald Love.  Their great friendship turned into a couple and soon there after they moved to Rockford, Il where they would reside.  

Vernell loved her grandchildren and had her own nicknames for each and every one of them.  She had a heart of Gold, Courage of a Lion, and the Strength of an Army in which she passed on to both her children and grandchildren.

Vernell Lynell Roundtree, leaves to cherish her beloved memory, her fiance' Ronald Love; mother Johnnie Lee Jones; four children, Kayshawn Roundtree (Rashad), Keyahna Roundtree, Marcus Roundtree, and Maurice Roundtree (Wanda); two sisters, Patricia Richardson (Keith Sr.), Forestine Agnew (Milton-deceased); three brothers, Author Jones (who preceded her in death) Roger Jones (Vernita), Michael Jones (Pam); seventeen grand children, a host of nieces, nephew, great nieces and nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, and special friends.  

Her life serves as a legacy of love to all that knew her.
