Roger Oehlke Obituary

Roger Oehlke (born 11/12/41) died 7/18/18 surrounded by family. He was born in Neenah, WI to Art and Ione. Married 54yrs to Barbara, he was father to Megan, Quinn, Khanh, and Jorge, Gustavo, and Gina Flores, brother to John, and grandfather to 7. He was a scholar, poet, musician, adventurous traveler, Packers fanatic, willing eater of new cuisines, a reader, jokester, organizer, navigator, worrier, thoughtful gift giver, fisherman, long-haired liberal, teacher at Guilford, West, and Auburn, a generous spirit, fierce protector, social justice advocate, civil rights activist, community volunteer, curmudgeon, but most significantly a husband, a father, a brother, and a grandpa. He will be missed beyond measure as he continues to make mischief and weave magic through our memories of his living, loving years. A public Celebration of Life will be conducted at the Unitarian Universalist Church (4848 Turner St) on Sunday August 19th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Habitat for Humanity local chapter, the Center for Sight and Hearing, and WNIJ DeKalb.
