Richard Taylor

Richard Taylor, 82, of Rockford was received in the hands of his Heavenly Father on September 26, 2019. He was born April 28, 1937, to Lula and Sam Taylor in Bolivar, Tennessee. He was united in holy matrimony to Ocie Mae Neely in 1970. He left Bolivar and came to Rockford, Illinois.

Mr. Taylor attended school in Bolivar, Tennessee. Mr. Taylor dedicated his life to the Lord at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and became a member of New Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Earlie Neely.

Mr. Taylor leaves to cherish many loving memories, two daughters, Simone Douglas of Cinnicinatti, OH.,  and Terri Stephenson of Rockford.; one sister, Josephine Clark of Bolivar, TN., one brother, Earnest (Thelma) Taylor of Rockford; six sister-in-law’s, Anna Neely, Annette Neely, Diane (Weldon) Phelps, Ethel Morrow, Florence (Gerald) Johnson, Virginia Hunt; four brother-in-law’s, William (Sabrina) Neely, Rev. Dr. Earlie (Willie Mae) Neely, Travis (Patricia) Neely, Len (Patricia) Neely; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Taylor was predeceased by his loving wife, parents, two sisters, and six brothers.

A special thank you to Alden Park Strathmoor Rehabilitation Center and the OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center for all of the wonderful doctors, nurses, and CNA’s who took part in his care as he made his transition.
