Lorraine E. Thurmond

LORRAINE ELIZABETH THURMOND, 95 of Rockford, Illinois, died Thursday, May 16, 2019 after a short illness.  She was born December 16, 1923 to Preston Johnson and Eunice Pruitt.

Lorraine was married 62 years to Douglas Thurmond, who preceeded her in death.  Lorraine was employed 27 years by the Rockford Public School Dist. #205 before retiring. Her membership affiliations include Jefferson-Horton #304 Auxiliary and the 8/40 Auxiliary. She was a faithful member of Pilgrim Baptist Church for over 60 years where she served as a member of the Deaconess Ministry, Good Samaritans, Chancel Choir,President of the Culinary Committee and Senior Saints Ministry as well as a Sunday School teacher. In addition, Lorraine served as a committee member of the Washington Park Lighting Committee.

Lorraine is survived by 3 children: Deloras Ransom, William (Rachel) and Sharon Thurmond; one brother, Calvin McMIllian and sister Eunice Dukes; two grandchildren, Marlin Jarrett and Eunice Jarrett and two great-grandchildren, Jalaizah and Autumn Simon. Preceeding Lorraine in death were her son, Glenndon and husband, Douglas.
