Lillie B. Hawkins

Lillie Hawkins “China” of Rockford, Illinois departed this earthly life September 22nd, 2019 at her home on Riverside.  She was born January 11th 1958 in Belzoni, Mississippi.  She was the daughter, of Lula Mae and Frank Hawkins.  

China attended Humphrey’s county high, and graduated in 1973. 

In 1978 China and her family came to Rockford, Illinois.  She worked as a customer service rep for many years at Rockford mercantile.  China enjoyed taking vacations and bringing family together, by doing Sunday dinners every Sunday.  She also enjoyed the Green Bay Packers football team.  She loved taking pictures and her favorite color was purple.  China married her longtime partner, Darius Copeland in 2019.

Lillie leaves to cherish many loving memories, husband, Darius Copeland; two sons, Eric (Penny) Hawkins, Gradie (Lachun) Hawkins; daughter, Arianna (Shanay) Hawkins; her beloved granddaughter, Shavionna Hawkins who she raised from the age of 3 months; and her other seven grandchildren, Erica Hawkins, Harmoniee Blackmon, Ny’asia Hawkins, Eran Hawkins, Joshua Hawkins, Judon Sterling, and Nahleah Hawkins; four sisters, Betty Glover of Indinola, Ms, DeLois Wainwright, Shirley Hawkins, Janice Hawkins all of Rockford IL; three brothers, Frank Smith of Tomah, WI, Johnnie (Linda) Hawkins of Muskegon,MI, and James Hawkins Rockford, IL. 

She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Hawkins; mother, Lula Mae Hawkins;  three siblings, Otis Smith, Robert Hawkins, Patrica Miller; and stepfather, Edward Mitchell.
