Larry Dean Grayned, 68, departed this earthly life on Saturday, October 12, 2019 after battling 10 months of cancer. He was born December 10, 1950 in Rockford, IL, the son of John Henry Grayned and Nehemiah Tollifero.
Larry attended West High School and worked at Rockford Public School District as school bus driver and building maintenance operator until he retired. He was also a dedicated home health care aide for Milestone for numerous years.
Larry leaves to cherish his memory, beautiful wife of 45 years Nila Grayned and one son and two daughters Justin Heck,(Haniyyah), Tonya Kinsey (Lawrence) and baby girl Jasmine Grayned. Larry was the proud grandfather of four grandchildren; Lawrence Kinsey, III, Josiah Heck, London Kinsey, Malachi Heck and very special friend Shutehu Ra.
Larry is also survived by brothers, John, Otha, Richard, Jackie, Willie Eddie Grayned; sisters,Janice Shutter, Loris Righteous, Doris (Alvin) English, Denise McCallister, Sharon Grayned and Anita Sanders.
Larry is predeceased by his parents, John H. and Nehemiah Grayned and four sisters, Shirley Barrett, Barbara Grayned-Triplett and Patsy Switzer, Joan Grayned-Green; Sister in law, Marcie Grayned; niece, Teresa Grayned Mitchell and nephews, Derek Grayned and Robert “Bobby” Harrington.
Larry enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He was an avid watch collector and dressed to the “T”. He loved watching Gun Smoke. WWE and driving his corvette. He loved the Chicago Bulls & the Chicago Bears. He was an amazing creative artist, loved jazz music and could fix anything he was tasked with. He was a car enthusiast and loved classic cars. He always made time to support, give advice, listen and encourage his family. Larry was the ultimate comedian, known to expressing his humor throughout every aspect of his life.
