Johnnie Mae Taylor, 76, of Rockford, IL passed away Friday, July 19, 2019. She was born on March 23, 1943 in Camden, Ark., to parents, Annie Lee Marks and James Goshen. Moving to Rockford, Johnnie attended Rockford Public Schools receiving her high school diploma from West Senior High School.
Johnnie retired from Atwood, after working as a welder for more than 30 years. She was also a faithful member of Mt. Zion M.B. Church located in Rockford, IL. Johnnie was very family-oriented and always loved taking care of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed attending church, reading the Bible, cooking, gardening, and watching her soap-operas. Although later divorced, Johnnie was married to Chester Taylor for a number of years. Her greatest duty was being a loving mother to four children.
Survived by her son, Raymond Taylor Sr.; granddaughters: Dana (Demarcio Wilkerson), Kaelynn (Ronald Bradford), and Jessica Powell; grandsons: Raymond Taylor Jr., Shawn Powell, Tyler Powell, and Tavarus Taylor; sister-in-law, Linda Marks-Brown; many numerous great-grandchildren and relatives.
Predeceased by parents; brother, Rev. James Marks; sons, Larry Powell and Michael Taylor; daughter, Sheila Davis; numerous relatives.
Funeral service at 12 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2019, preceding visitation at 11 a.m. at Collins and Stone Funeral Home, 128 S. Fifth, Rockford, IL 61104.
