Joan Green-Grayned 79, departed this earthly life on Friday, May 11th, 2018 at Swedish American Hospital after a short illness. She was born February 21st 1939 in Decatur, IL., the daughter of John Henry Grayned and Nehemiah Tollifero Grayned.
Joan attended West High School. She worked at Warner Lambert and as a dedicated home health care aide at Addus Healthcare.
Joan leaves to cherish four sons, Robert “Bobby” Harrington, Michael Harrington, Otha Harrington, and Freemon Hubbard; Joan was the proud grandmother of sixteen grandchildren, Michael Harrington, Chasity Harrington, Sarah Harrington, Stephanie Harrington, Markeeta Forrest, Wayne Forrest, Briana Murphy, Tyler Sturdivant, Stephanie Harrington, Paul Carter, Ashli Kizer, Taniquia Hubbard, Darrious Coleman, Freemon Hubbard, Elijah Hubbard, Kemón Hubbard and a host of great grand children.
She is also survived by brothers, John, Otha, Richard, Jackie, Larry (Nila), Willie Eddie Grayned; sisters, Janice Shutter, Loris Righteous, Doris (Alvin) English, Denise McAllister, Sharon Grayned all of Rockford. Anita Sanders of Florida and very special friend, Edith Allen.
Joan is predeceased by her parents, John H. and Nehemiah Grayned and three sisters, Shirley Barrett, Barbara Grayned-Triplett and Patsy Switzer; sister in law, Marcie Grayned, niece, Theresa Mitchell-Grayned and nephew, Derek Grayned.
Joan enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren, shopping and traveling. She always made time to support, take care of and encourage others. Joan was the ultimate diva, known for expressing her fashion sense throughout every aspect of her life down to her eye lashes.
