Howard Morehead 83, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 21, 2017 after a short illness. He was born November 2, 1934 in Stephens, Arkansas. The son of Tommie and Golden Morehead. He came to Rockford in 1952 and married Vera in 1961. He was a member of Christian Union Full Gospel Church Ministries for over 50 years serving as Senior Usher.
He was a longtime employee at Quaker Oaks before retiring from St. Elizabeth Community Center in 2005.
Lovingly cared for by his Grandchildren Rev. Philip and Tara Williams, April Cauthen and LaDeta Layne.

Howard leaves to cherish his memory, 2 children; Ricky (Bridgett) Merritt; Rex, GA and Jacqueline Merritt (Stan) Fudge; Roscoe IL.

8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Predeceased by his Parents Tommie and Golden Morehead, Wife; Vera Mae “Micky” Morehead, Daughter; Debra Ann “Peaches” Merritt, one Brother Franklin Charles “FC” Morehead and two Sisters; Shirley Maxwell and Callie Mae Murphy.
