On December 27, 1947 Eddie Charles Sims was born in Crossett, Ark to the late Betty Jean Sims and A.J. Harris. Eddie was the oldest of five siblings, Linda, Jacqueline, Archie, and Don.
As a young boy growing up in Crossett, Ark Eddie enjoyed various musical instruments. He enjoyed playing the trombone in his his high school band T.W. Daniels. After graduating from T.W. Daniels Eddie attended college at AM&N of Pine Bluff where he received his bachelor of science degree in Business Administration. After graduating from college he served in the United States Army. After being honorary discharged from the Army Eddie married Linda Mitchell and from their union a son, Eric Sims was born.
For the next 30 years Eddie was successful in public service. Eddie was a very active member at of Gates Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church. On May 16, 2018 Eddie went to be with the Lord. Eddie will be fondly remembered for his kind and caring ways with everybody.
He leaves to cherish his son, Eric Sims; sisters Linda Henderson and Jacqueline (Curt) Rhodes; aunt, Edith Sims; nieces, Manya Collins and Tisha Rhodes; nephews Antione Collins, Damion Collins, Curtis Rhodes Jr, C.J (Tara) Harris, Philip Harris and special cousin Lester Simpson; and a host of family and friends.
Preceding Eddie in death is his parents, Betty Jean Harris and A.J. Harris; brothers, Don Harris and Archie Harris; niece, Donyalle Harris; nephew Shawn Rhodes; aunt, Blanche Benford and Nellie Terry.
