Zannie Mae Strong, of Rockford,passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2016. She was born December 9, 1941, the daughter of Roy Sims and Queen Esther Morris in Bluff City, Arkansas. She was employed atthe U.S.P.S., retiring after 34 years of service. Zannie was an active member of Progressive Missionary Baptist Church and she loved singing in the choir. She also enjoyed bowling. Zannie leaves behind many cherished memories. She is survived by her 5 sons, Maurice (Shelley) Sims, Robert (Collette) Sims, Larry Sims, Leonard Bell, Tyrone Bell, and her daughter Sheena (Michael) Strong; 28 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; her brothers Roosevelt and Robert Sims, sisters Della Sims and Ella Mae Owens, step sister Loula Armstrong; sister in law Lena Sims; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, and brothers Charles, Elroy, and L.C. Sims and sister Annie Pearl Sims. Services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, August 6th, 2016 at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at 9:00am until the time of service.
