Susie Lee Avery was born October 5th, 1944 in Clarksdale, Mississippi. She confessed her hope in Christ at an early age. She moved to Rockford in 1970 and made friends with many people. Some knew her as "Sue baby" and others knew her as Aunt Sue and Ma to her children. She leaves to cherish 5 daughters; Percy, Bobbie, Brenda, Beverly and Jeanette all of Rockford and 2 sons Herman Avery of Memphis Tennessee and James who is deceased. She has 8 wonderful grandsons; Cassius, Bernard, Marcus, Clifton, Demetrius, Rafeal, Michael and Brandon. She has 5 Beautiful grand daughters; Marquita, Kalani, Pearlyna, Brianna and Miracle. 14 awesome great grand kids and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She also leaves to cherish 4 living brothers Jimmy Avery of Rockford, Arthur Avery of Freeport, Charlie and Albert of St. Louis and 4 living sisters: Daisy Clark of Memphis, Ethel and Christine of St. Louis and Pearlie Mae of Rockford. She has 2 deceased brothers: John Avery and Cornelius. A special friend Walter Garden, the Thompson family who enjoyed fishing with her and a long time friend Eli Glover who is now deceased. Not only did Sue love to fish but she also enjoyed doing her gardening, taking long walks and spending time with her children. She loved taking care of people. She was the best mom and provider and she always kept it real when any of her children were sick, she was the doctor and the nurse. She was truly a strong woman in raising all 6 of her children on her own. She made miracles happen through Jesus Christ, the one whom she is going home to.
